Local Homeschoolers

May 31, 2010

Today Ciaran and I went to a swing dance class with some friends of ours who we met at the Quaker Meeting (all the kids there are homeschooled) we go to. The other kids at the lesson were extremely friendly and welcoming, and happily taught me the Charlston and some other basic steps. It was a lot of fun, and I think I’m going to make it a regular affair.

In the middle of the lesson, my friend Robin mentioned to me that almost all of the kids there were also homeschoolers. I was thrilled! The boy I was dancing with, Chandler, asked me if I was homeschooled. “I am as of a couple days ago,” I said. He smiled and gave me a high five.

I’m so happy to have found another community of homeschoolers. It seems like now that I have become interested in homeschooling, I have started meeting so many local homeschoolers. I had always heard rumors of a big homeschooling community in my city – now I’m witnessing it first hand!
